Gideros Studio is an application made by Gideros Mobile to easily create cross-platform applications on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.  You develop your application in Lua and test using the Gideros Player on your computer or device. Gideros Studio will output native code for iPhones, iPods, iPads, Android mobiles and Android tablets. In the future it will also output code for native Mac OS X and Windows desktop computers and laptops.

Download the latest version of Gideros Studio from the website:

You will be redirected to the login page to Register and create your account profile before downloading.

  • Always pick the latest version to download so you’re up to date with any bug-fixes or new features.

Run the installer for your Operating System and install Gideros Studio.

You can launch Gideros Studio from in either Applications on Mac OS X or All Programs on Windows.

On the right, you will see a list of Example Projects. Try out one of these to get some great demo lua files. They are great for learning Gideros Studio programming.

Open the project, “Bird Animation”:

Test your app. Select Player -> Start Local Player:

or press the Controller button to launch the Player then the PLAY button to execute your app code:

You will see the app running in the Player:

You may need to select “Hardware:Rotate Left” in the Player.

In the Gideros Studio app you will see your app being uploaded to the Player. This is handy for testing and finding problems.

You can see the console output at the bottom of Gideros Studio.  This will display any errors and can also be used to output text for troubleshooting your application.

Gideros Studio comes with source code for many application examples to help you learn to write your application.  Try them out for yourself!
